Frequently Asked Questions:
Question: When do 2012 Memorial Ball tickets go on sale?
Answer: 2012 EOD Memorial Ball tickets will go on sale Feb 10, 2012. The Ball will be held again at the Emerald Coast Convention Center, Okaloosa Island, Fort Walton Beach, Florida, for the same price as last year, $75.00.
This year all the meals are the same (4 oz chicken breast, 4 oz grilled beef tenderloin, and grilled shrimp and all the fixins, including wine and dessert. Vegetarian plates are available. Tickets will be ordered via our web site, connecting to Ticket Turtle. Legacy Families, corporate tables, and those wishing to pay for an Honorary Family table should contact the EOD Ball Chairman, Keith Bubier, directly at keithrbubier@gmail.com prior to Feb 5th. Hope to see you there. Yes, EOD students may attend.
Question: Is the EOD Memorial Foundation merging with the EOD Wounded Warrior Foundation?
Answer: No, nothing is plannedat this time. However, a Committee has been formed to look into all aspects of the possibility of merger at some point in the future. The committee will report back to the EODMF over the next several months. Then, opinions/comments will then be solicited from the EOD Community, and the 2 Boards of Directors will vote on the merger, if warranted. Fact finding could lead to a no vote, as happened after discussions a few years ago. So please, no rumors! We will post our findings on the Memorial Website and Facebook, but it won’t be this year. Hopefully, by the Memorial Service, Auction, Ball weekend we’ll have something to post on line.
Question: Why doesn’t anyone from the EOD Memorial Foundation (EODMF) answer questions and comments on the Memorial Facebook Page?
Answer: There is no official EOD Memorial Facebook Page. Anyone can go on Facebook and open a “Memorial Page”, and many have done so in one form or another. Some are public and some are private. I have gone to one site to clarify some misconceptions. The Board of Directors will discuss the subject on September 12th. Instead of asking questions on a Facebook Page, please contact myself or any Board member with your questions, comments, or suggestions. We are always looking to improve! ECD (decision on an official EODMF Facebook Page): Oct 15th
There is a Facebook Page for Legacy Families and Honoree Families. Please contact Erin Berky, our Legacy Committee Chairperson, at: erin.berky@eodmemorial.org. Erin and the Legacy Committee are working hard to see how the EODMF can be of more help to Legacy and Honoree Families.
Question: There are several lights out at the EOD Memorial—why doesn’t the Board get them fixed?
Answer: NAVSCOLEOD Maintenance has agreed to change the lights and are in the process of procuring them. The EODMF will puchase them and change if NAVSCOLEOD is unable to do so. ECD: Sep 15th.
Question: Why doesn’t the EODMF put their budget and finances on the site for everyone to see? What are you hiding?
Answer: Good question! We have been making an effort to be more open/visible and have improved in that area by placing the Minutes and Treasurer’s Report on line. However, we have not gone far enough. The Exec Director, President, and Treasurer are meeting next week. One discussion item is next year’s budget to present to the Board of Directors for approval. Also, monthly donations and expenditures will be shown in the near future as part of the Treasurer’s Report. ECD: Oct 15th.
