2009-2010 EOD MEMORIAL
SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
DEADLINE
for application: March 1, 2009
This scholarship is
for students enrolled or planning to enroll full-time as an undergraduate in a
U.S. accredited two year, four year, or vocational school during the 2009-2010
academic year. Applicant must be a family member,
enrolled in DEERS, of an active duty (includes activated reserves), retired, or
deceased EOD technician.
The EOD Memorial
Committee determines scholarship amounts based on the funds available. Awards are paid directly to the academic
institution for the student’s tuition, books, fees, and on-campus housing.
Award priorities
are as follows:
1. Family members
of those whose names are on the EOD Memorial.
2. Applicants who
have never received the EOD award.
3. Past EOD
Scholarship recipients, with a limit of four awards per person.
Applications are reviewed anonymously by the Scholarship Selection
Board, which consists of enlisted and officer spouses from each of the
services. Selection criteria are
academic merit, community involvement, and financial need.
The Personal
Data and Personal History pages
should be submitted on-line or postmarked not later than midnight, March 1, 2009. Cumulative GPA must be on a 4.0 basis; you must
convert from numerical or letter grades.
Be sure your most recent term i.e. fall, 2008, is included.
Only ONE PAGE of history will be
accepted. It may be single-spaced. Please do not include any personally
identifying information (e.g., not JONES family farm). School and workplace names are OK, but not
really necessary.

A Transcript
Request form is included to give to your school. Transcripts must be postmarked by March 1, 2009.
Financial need will be based solely on the
FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID.
This application may be picked up at your guidance office, library,
etc. The fastest way to apply is on-line
at www.fafsa.ed.gov; there is a link from this site. It takes a few weeks for processing, so don’t
delay. Do NOT send the application to
us. FAFSA will produce a Student Aid Report showing the amount
of Expected Family Contribution and aid for which you may be
eligible. E-mail this SAR to me, or
print a copy and mail it, not later than April
1, 2009.
The signature
page must be printed, signed, and mailed with the copy of the Student Aid
Report. This must be postmarked not
later than April 1, 2009.
