PARKERSBURG The body of Nicholas H. Null will arrive at a time to be determined Friday in Wood County where a memorial service will be held on Sunday for the U.S. Navy chief who died when a helicopter carrying SEALs and other servicemen was shot down Aug. 6 in Afghanistan, a spokesman for the family said Thursday.
Null, a chief explosive ordnance disposal technician (explosive warfare specialist/freefall parachutist/diver,) will arrive at the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport from Dover Air Force Base, Navy Lt. David Bennett, a spokesman for the family, said.
A private memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Parkersburg South High School. A military funeral and interment will be held at Sunset Memory Gardens.
The EOD Memorial Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring the legacy of our fallen EOD Warriors by providing for maintenance and upkeep of the physical memorial at Eglin AFB, FL, funding and facilitating the annual EOD Memorial Ceremony & Ball, and providing scholarships to family members of active duty, former, retired, and fallen members of the EOD Community.
